Who am I? Husband and Father, Pastor-Scholar
I married my gorgeous wife, Rose, over 10 years ago, and we have since that time been blessed with four delightful children: Josiah (7), Charity (6), Amos (4), and Ezra (nearly 2). My family will make frequent appearances on my site, especially on the blog. For more information on the family (and cute pictures of the kids) watch my blog or check out our family homeschooling blog. You can also view my old site.
I am presently a Ph.D. candidate in Old Testament at McMaster Divinity College in Hamilton, ON, and a full-time lecturer at Queensland Theological College. Previously I was a part-time instructor in the Religion and Theology department of Redeemer University College in Ancaster, ON. My research interests include but are not limited to Hebrew Bible, the Psalter, and Septuagint. My teaching experience encompases a broad spectrum reaching from biblical languages to Reformation theology. I also serve as occasional pulpit supply . I am deeply in love with my lord and savior, Jesus Christ, and seek to serve him through involvement in a local congregation and through my scholarly vocation as student and teacher. I am a candidate for gospel ministry in the Eastern Canada Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America.
My Church Internship
In addition to my candidacy I am also an intern under care of my presbytery. While under care and interning in my previous presbytery (Mississippi Valley) I served the youth and young adults of Wynndale Presbyterian Church in Terry, MS. Learn more about my internship here.
I am a graduate of the University of Oklahoma (B.A. in Linguistics) and of Reformed Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity). I am now pursuing a PhD in Old Testament from McMaster Divinity College (matriculation in September 2010), and have also studied two summers with SIL in Grand Forks, ND.
Whether I have time for hobbies with everything else going on is an open question, but I have them nonetheless! Among other things I enjoy reading, hiking, good coffee, woodworking, and listening to an eclectic assortment of music ranging from Gustav Mahler to Miles Davis to James Taylor.
